Mastering the Natural Look: Makeup Tips for the Outdoor Utah Enthusiast

For outdoor enthusiasts, spending time in nature is a priority. Whether it's hiking, camping, or just enjoying a day at the beach, being outside is a way of life. And while embracing the great outdoors is fantastic, it doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your love for makeup. In fact, mastering the natural makeup look can enhance your outdoor adventures and make you feel confident and put-together while exploring the world around you.

The natural makeup look is all about enhancing your features and embracing your natural beauty. It's about looking fresh-faced and glowy, while keeping things simple and understated. This is the perfect makeup look for outdoor enthusiasts, as it allows you to feel comfortable and confident without worrying about your makeup melting off or looking overdone.

To master the natural makeup look for your outdoor adventures, follow these tips:

Start with a clean canvas: Before applying any makeup, make sure to cleanse and moisturize your skin. This will create a smooth base for your makeup and help it to last longer throughout the day.

Use a lightweight foundation or tinted moisturizer: Instead of heavy foundation, opt for a lightweight foundation or tinted moisturizer. This will even out your skin tone without feeling heavy or caked-on.

Conceal any imperfections: If you have any blemishes or dark circles, use a concealer to cover them up. Make sure to blend well for a seamless finish.

Add a touch of color: For a natural flush, apply a cream blush to the apples of your cheeks. Choose a shade that complements your skin tone for a subtle pop of color.

Define your brows: Brows frame the face and can make a big difference in your overall look. Use a brow pencil or powder to fill in any sparse areas and create a polished finish.

Enhance your eyes: Keep your eye makeup simple by applying a neutral eyeshadow and a coat of mascara. This will define your eyes without looking overdone.

Finish with a nude lip: Complete your natural makeup look with a nude lipstick or lip gloss. This will provide a polished finish without competing with the rest of your makeup.

To ensure your makeup lasts throughout your outdoor adventures, make sure to set it with a translucent powder or setting spray. This will help to lock in your makeup and prevent it from budging, even in the heat or humidity.

With these tips, mastering the natural makeup look for outdoor enthusiasts is easy and effortless. So, embrace your love for the great outdoors while looking and feeling your best with a fresh-faced makeup look that enhances your natural beauty. Happy exploring!

Britt & Colby Macdonald

We were honored to be a part of this special day with this very special couple!  Our stunning bride Britt, who truly is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside...and awesome Colby, who also happens to be my all-time favorite player on "Survivor"! This gorgeous video was created by Krissi Cooks Films.  If you need a videographer, she's the one to go to! krissicookfilms.com

And the "Blue" Beat goes on...La de da de de, la de da de da

I was just thinking about how lucky I am to work as a free-lance makeup artist for DIOR! I've formed life long friendships with the most amazing people I work with, and spend the day sharing my passion of beauty with clients of all ages and from all walks of life! It's very rewarding, especially knowing I've helped to build one's confidence by how they look or feel after a makeover, or simply by just making someone's day a little brighter!  Also, for me....going to work in a department store is like spending my day in a candy store!...(minus all the useless calories.) Well, except the Caramel Macchiato I always end up ordering at the EBar... eek! Just so you know, I do order a skinny. ;) ;) I'm truly obsessed with exploring the counters to find the best that each beauty and skincare line has to offer and see what's trending. My last post was all about gorgeous eyes with blue shadows, and here it's all about the beautiful blue hues for your nails! I found a variety of blue's to choose from. NARS in Ikiru & Night Out, BUTTER LONDON in Chat Up, Giddy Kipper & Candy Floss, DEBORAH LIPPMAN in On the Beach & Blue Orchid, DIOR in Bleuette, and I'm wearing OPI in Gel- Can't find my Czechbook. (OPI's nail polish names are guaranteed to put a smile on my face!) It's funny, when I was getting my nails done at the salon, a couple of nice ladies sitting near me commented on my blue color and loved it! However, both thought they would feel more comfortable with their more neutral color polish. I say, "Why not go for it?" Blue is the coolest color.  It's the color of the ocean and the sky! Blue symbolizes peace, trust, loyalty and confidence! Besides, even if it's out of your comfort zone, you're going to change the color in a few weeks anyway. Go ahead, live a little! The beat goes on!

Spring's Beauty Trend for Eyes? Romantic and Powerful Blue's!

Spring's Beauty Trend for Eyes? Romantic and Powerful Blue's!

It's April!  Ahhhh, Spring is here!! Wellllll.....sort of!  The birds are singing and the flowers are blooming, but as I look out my window it's snowing!!...Yes, it's true, and I love it!  Growing up in San Diego where practically every day has perfect weather, I always dreamed of living in crazy unexpected seasons!  But just because there's a snow flurry going on outside doesn't mean we can't get excited for Spring's airy fashions and colorful makeup here inside!

This years Spring's beauty trends invite freshness, vibrance and drama, and blues are at the top of the list! I was so excited to see this stunning look that Jaclyn created, and couldn't wait to share it with you!

For Jaclyn's eyes she used MAC's limited edition Future eye shadow palette in Dark Energy, and Rebeleyes eyeliner. To create more emphasis on her eyes she applied MAC#36 Lashes, and framed her face with fabulous brows using the MAC Brow Definer in Lingering.  Jaclyn completed the look using MAC Lip liner in Soar and MAC Mehr lipstick!

Simply GORGEOUS!  Thanks Jaclyn!
